Supreme Court Update (10.10.14)

The 2014-2015 term of the Supreme Court started on Monday, October 6th. As of my writing this, 5 cases have been argued in the Court, with decisions pending;
·         Warger v. Shauers
·         Holt v. Hobbes
·         Heien v. North Carolina
For more information, click on the names of the cases above.
            Outside of argued cases, the Court made an important decision this Monday when it denied review of 7 same-sex marriage petitions, clearing the way for same sex marriages in Virginia, Indiana, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, and Utah. Over the next few weeks, this decision may also lead to the legalization of same-sex marriage in North and South Carolina, West Virginia, Colorado, Kansas, and Wyoming. Should all these decisions go through, same-sex marriage would be allowed in 30 states and Washington D.C., a massive win for the LGBT community. The decision took place when the justices refused to review the same-sex marriage cases before them, lifting a series of orders delaying such marriages while the issue remained in Court in the process.
